INHEAVEN, "Regeneration"
It's interesting how guitar rock has evolved now that it's no longer the popular style of music for young people. Back in 1965, the Who could confidently proclaim that they were speaking for their generation (or "Talkin' bout my generation"): "People try to put us d-down/ Just because we get around." The singer of INHEAVEN, on the other hand, avoids such universalizing statements, instead announcing "I don't want to bring you down/ I just wanna fuck around/ I'm bored with my generation/ Is this my generation?"
I think the difference between those two choruses might just sum up how the attitude of British youth culture has changed over the past 50 years. But in its way, "Regeneration" is just as much an anthem as "My Generation," and it sounds great cranked up as loud as your speakers can go.
