New Music of the Day, August 1:

So there's so much great music being released right now, but there aren't enough outlets publicizing that great music, so most of it never gets heard. So, as we kick off a new month, I want to get into the habit of doing a New Music of the Day post each day.

First up, for Aug. 1, a song from my favorite album of the year so far, Dan Black's "Do Not Revenge." Dan's been around for about 15 years now, first as a vocalist for Italian dance group Planet Funk ("Who Said" and "Lemonade" are all-time classics), then as a solo artist. I'll admit, his voice is an acquired taste, but boy do I love it. All the tracks off the album are pretty great, but my particular favorites are the closing track "Zoo":

and the first single "Headphones":

(Boy, can I relate to that chorus--"I've been living in my headphones for too long." Though ironically the song sounds fantastic on headphones).
